Synopsis: After a small-time hood steals a pouch of ancient runes, he learns that he can use them to mark people to be possessed and taken to the other side by a demon. The Extreme Ghostbusters must not only track down the thief but also rescue his victims before the victims are trapped on the other side for all eternity.

Fun Facts

• Title Reference: "Casting the Runes" is a 1911 story by M.R. James, which was adapted in 1957 as the British horror film "Night of the Demon" (trimmed and renamed "Curse of the Demon" in the US) starring Dana Andrews, Peggy Cummins, and Niall MacGinnis. This episode and the original story share the concept that a when a cursed item (a parchment paper in the original story) is discovered, it curses the "chosen one" (both use the same term) and a demon visits that person. Extreme Ghostbusters however differs with the original story as the demon doesn't kill the chosen one, but rather takes them to another dimension.
