  • Title Reference: "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" is a 1943 novel written by Betty Smith. The story focuses on an impoverished but aspirational third-generation-American adolescent girl and her ethnically-blended family in Williamsburg, Brooklyn during the first two decades of the 20th century.
  • The voice actors were recorded on November 14, 1986.
  • "Lornes Greenhouse" is a reference to "Bonanza" actor, Lorne Greene.
  • Michael Eden's original concept was titled "It's A Jungle Out There", but his brother and co-writer didn't like the title, so it was changed. Incidentally, the title would later be used for an episode written by Len Janson and Chuck Menville.
